9/21/2011:  Second to last day in Chicago.

After graduating from college, I landed a spot in a competitive urban teacher residency program.  I taught kids for a year and it was fine.  But at the end of the summer I was hired to teach in a different school with a philosophy that stood in direct conflict with my ideological beliefs, so I did the romantic thing and resigned on moral principal with nothing else lined up.  Surely I, a 23 year old with a master’s degree, would be an impressive candidate and breeze back into employment!  That did not happen.  Oh.  So now, with no money in my pocket, I’m moving back to the suburbs (of a different city) to live in my parents’ guest room.  To make the most of this temporarily sub-par situation, I am going to video blog my brush in with the recession.
